My New Wallet
As a minimalist I have always disliked my traditional wallet. Even for a guy I think its always been to much to carry around. I cant even imagine how and why women carry such huge purses with them everywhere. A traditional men’s wallet really just has so many compartments that I personally did not even use most of them. All I used was a compartment to keep my driving license, one for a train pass, another for my coins and the fourth for my cash. Yet because the wallet was naturally made out of leather, it itself would use up a lot of space in my pocket.
So I had to search for a alternative. Most minimal wallets I would find would only be made for notes and cards, so then I would ask, where do I put my coins? Most if not all the wallets you can get these days are just made for too much stuff to put in.
So, a few days ago I was walking around Melbourne with my sister as we are visiting and in New Zealand one of my best friends told me she would buy half of her stuff there at a Op Shop because its cheap and you can find some good quality stuff. So while walking around Melbourne I saw a Op Shop near Victoria Market and so I had to check it out if not to buy anything there. And there I found it! The wallet I was looking for!
I got it for only $3 and it very minimal! It only has one compartment and button to in the center to keep it closed. It seems to be quite a few years old and has the Bank of Victoria name written on it which is vaguely visible.
Its less of a wallet and more of a pouch but it fits all my stuff in it. Its made of strong leather but because it only has one compartment, its very slim. I can put perfectly put my coins, notes and cards in it with space to spare and it does not get even close to as bulky as my tradition wallet did even when it was empty.
I have fallen in love with this old school wallet as its so simply made and has a antique touch to it. As for my previous wallet, I will give it to someone else.
